2016-2017 Annual report

$4.1M invested in the businesses of the territory

Gatineau, June 14, 2017 – On June 7, at the Saint-Félix-de-Valois Centre of Chénéville, the Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) de Papineau held its annual general meeting. The SADC team presented a balance sheet of its business activities and financial results for 2016–2017 to its administrators and partners.

The SADC de Papineau granted funding of over $1.8 million to 31 businesses in its territory for the 2016–2017 year. Due to its implication, investments of more than $4.1 million dollars were achieved and consequently more businesses and jobs were created within the community.

En Route to a digital economy
The 2016–2017 year was one of “innovation, Web and electronic business” in its strategic planning; the SADC de Papineau placed this major economic challenge in the heart of its activities. Structuring and innovating projects such as the online regional business directory “Acheter ici Outaouais” emerged: a directory for online stores in the region. Using its Web service, the SADC helped eight businesses either develop transactional websites or create their first website. The SADC de Papineau also developed the Route de l’entrepreneur portal for the SADCs of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

In terms of local economic development, the year was marked by projects with a significant impact. The SADC de Papineau launched the Papineau RCM promotional portal: Espace Papineau.ca – an unprecedented initiative for the region. Through a youth internship program, the SADC de Papineau invested $95,000 in salaries for nine people under the age of 30 who provide technical support to local businesses and agencies in the community.

Since 1985, the SADC has invested $31M and authorized 730 loans to businesses located in its territory, which included 33 municipalities.
